Book Feature: A Sour Note by Jill Piscitello
On the heels of a public, broken engagement, Maeve Cleary returns to her childhood home in Hampton Beach, NH. When a dead body turns up behind her mother's music school, three old friends land on the suspect list. Licking her wounds soon takes a back seat to outrunning the paparazzi who spin into a frenzy, casting her in a cloud of suspicion.
Maeve juggles her high school sweetheart, a cousin with a touch of clairvoyance, a no-nonsense detective, and an apologetic, two-timing ex-fiancé. Will the negative publicity impact business at the Music Box - the very place she'd hoped to make a fresh start?
From Jill Piscitello on A Sour Note:
My family and I vacation in Hampton Beach, NH every summer. A few years ago, I was walking along a stretch of beach and realized how perfect the location was for a cozy mystery. The people watching, sights, sounds, food, events, entertainment, and gorgeous beach spanning one of the most popular boardwalks in the nation, provides a rich world for any cast of characters and everything needed for an endless stream of writing ideas.
The next book in the series will occur during the off-season. I look forward researching what the town looks like when tourist numbers dwindle and am confident an empty beach has quite a bit to offer to the series.
Hampton Beach, NH, frequently named as one of the cleanest in the nation, provides a beautiful background as Maeve navigates the discovery of a corpse, accusations, and a charming group of family, friends, and neighbors.
