February 2024
Here we are, almost in February and I’m planning a long walk around my suburb to check which trees and shrubs are blooming. The opening chapters in The Guy from the Wedding start just after the height of Perth summer and I gotta be sure those seasonal markers are accurate 🌼
Cue: Me outdoors with a notebook for the next six months, counting clouds and flowers like some sort of nerd.
Between family commitment and home improvements, I’ve had a fairly slow start to 2024. There’s only so much you can do while waiting for paint to dry and for insurance people to sort out their paperwork. When not writing or watching our next batch of bird’s eye chillies to ripen 🌶 I’ve been gathering short and sweet reads to enjoy under the summer sunshine.
At this moment, I’m leisurely strolling through Summer of Second Chances by Nola Li Barr, a short story about Rose from the novel Forbidden Blossom. I’ve been wanting to read Nola Li Barr’s family saga series for a long time, and am super excited to finally get a taste of the Skyline Mansion world.
How about you? What are you reading right now?

By the way, reviews are a huge help to small-time indie authors. Both good reviews and bad ones help readers hone in on the books and authors they resonate with. If you’ve enjoyed one of my books, I’d love it if you would leave me a review or star rating on BookBub, StoryGraph or Goodreads.
