Visiting D. V. Stone’s campfire, and other updates
Today I’m over at D.V. Stone’s blog, talking about creative challenges and my upcoming enemies-to-lovers sweet romance, The Guy from the Wedding. You can read the full interview at D’s blog.
Around the Campfire with Birdie Song
It’s been a hot minute since I last got to visit someone. I’d forgotten how helpful an interview can be in getting my thoughts in order. I do keep a journal and plenty of notes, but sometimes explaining one’s brain soup to another human being gives an extra special boost of... I don’t even know what to call it. Mental recovery zest? That’s what it feels like, anyway.
Life has been very good to me since finishing revisions and getting my manuscript away to my proofreader. My superstitious side is saying, “See what happens when you get your work done?” and the rest of me is rolling her eyes and going, “Yes, fine, I get it, I will stop procrastinating over my writing in future.” And I mean it.
The proofread manuscript is due back in a couple of days, and then typesetting and preparing the Advance Reader Copies can begin. Right now, there’s only one way to get on the ARC invitation list: subscribe to my newsletter and reply to any one of the emails before end of August to let me know you want in.
What I’ve been doing lately
Last weekend, we went to look for a tiny birdbath for our postage stamp of a garden, but alas only found large heavy stone ones. Beautiful in a formal garden, but too big for us. Sorry, Turtle Doves who pick our driveway clean twice a week, you’ll have to bathe in the pouring rain awhile longer ☔️
Officially I’m on a break, which means getting on top of as many ‘one and done’ and household projects as I can before returning to the world of Somerville Downs. My intention is to get the final three books out in a more timely fashion (which should be easier in theory because they're shorter books!), and the only way to do that is to resolve as many potential distractions ahead of time. Wish me luck!
